Description
Haunted by a botched investigation, Chief Inspector Armand Gamache retreats to in Quebec City for some rest. However, the murder of Samuel de Champlain, a historian obsessed with finding the remains of Quebec's founder, leaves Gamache reluctant to return home. Meanwhile, an old friend has been convicted of murder in Three Pines, forcing Gamache to come to terms with his past.
