For Teens
While these books have been selected for teens 12 to 18 years of age, titles on the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) lists span a broad range of reading and maturity levels. Librarians encourage adults to take an active role in helping individual teens choose those books that are the best fit for them and their families.
Alex Awards – Annually recognize “ten books written for adults that have special appeal to young adults ages 12 through 18.”
Green Mountain Book Award – The GMBA is a reader’s choice award, made by Vermont students in grades 9 – 12.
Margaret A. Edwards Award – Annually recognizes an author and “a specific body of his or her work, for significant and lasting contribution to young adult literature.”
Michael L. Printz Award – “Annually honors the best book written for teens, based entirely on its literary merit.”
